The second leg of the sixth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to commence on June 9 in Abu Dhabi. Most of the players of all the teams have served the mandatory quarantine and are gearing up for the tournament. However, less than three days away from resumption, Lahore Qalandars have been dealt with a huge blow.

Their wicketkeeper batsman Ben Dunk got hit on the lips while a catching session and has received seven stitches. To add to it, the Australian also had to undergo surgery for the realignment of his lips. Though there is no official statement on his availability as of now, Dunk could be doubtful at least for a couple of days given the state of his injury.

Having said that, the Qalandars CEO Sameen Rana gave a positive feedback about the cricketer's recovery and he rather hoped that Ben Dunk will play the game against Islamabad United on June 9.

"He is recovering well and we are hopeful that he will be available for the 1st game against Islamabad," Rana said according to CricWick. Lahore Qalandars are currently at the third position in the points table after three games from four matches.

Ben Dunk was in amazing form before the PSL 2021 was stopped midway earlier this year. The left-hander had scored 80 runs in four matches batting down the order at an average of 40 and high-score of unbeaten 57. The team is led by Sohail Akhtar while Shaheen Afridi is his deputy. It was a well-rounded squad with the likes of Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman and Haris Rauf among others being part of it.
