Shaw

Indian opener Prithvi Shaw is in red hot form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy and has broken Mayank Agarwal’s record of most runs in a single edition of the tournament. Shaw surpassed Mayank Agarwal’s tally of 723 runs, which he scored for Karnataka in the 2018 edition, in a blistering 165 run knock against Karnataka in the semi final.

Opening the batting, the Mumbai skipper decimated Karnataka bowlers, blasting a 122 ball 165 to take his team to a formidable 322 in their 50 overs. He started cautiously and brought up his fifty in 48 balls before going berserk, racing to his fourth hundred of the tournament in the next 31 deliveries. Shaw is the first batsmen to score 700 runs in this edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Shaw was looking good for his second double hundred of this season but Vyshak Vijay Kumar trapped him plumb in the 41st over. His inning was studded with 17 fours and seven sixes. Shaw, who was dropped from the Indian team after a poor series against Australia, is averaging 188.50 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He began his season with an unbeaten 105 against Delhi. Later, he went on to score his maiden List A double century, shattering Sanju Samson’s record for the highest individual score in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Shaw’s form is a big boost for Delhi Capitals, who’ll be looking for their maiden IPL title.

Talking about the match Karnataka are 43-1 in 7 overs. Karnataka rest their hopes on Devdutt Padikkal, who's also in scintillating form and chasing Shaw's record of most runs in a season.
