Prasidh Krishna hails Indian pace spearhead

Indian pacer Prasidh Krishna, who was part of the pace battery in the Leeds Test, has hailed the Indian pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who scalped his 12th five-wicket haul away from home in Tests in the first innings against England.

Interestingly, Bumrah’s fifer wasn’t enough as he couldn’t replicate his heroics in the second innings as India failed to defend 371 runs in the fourth innings to suffer a five-wicket defeat to start the five-match series on a worrying note.

Attending the pre-match press conference in Birmingham, Krishna stated that Bumrah has played an important role in constantly guiding and motivating the rest of the bowling attack right from the start of the England tour.

“What a culture we guys have created. We are learning from each other, no matter who's there or who's around. And with Booms (Bumrah) around, he's been talking to all of us throughout, even before coming here. At least for me, I've been part of this team for a few years now, so the conversations are still going on. One thing you cannot get is experience — you have to go through it yourself. And yeah, I think all of us are excited,” Prasidh said at the press conference.

Interestingly, Prasidh Krishna couldn’t create a significant impact in the Leeds Test as he ended with the figures of 3/128 in the first innings and 2/92 in the second innings, conceding runs at an expensive economy.

Furthermore, other pacers, Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur, also couldn’t make it big as they failed to live up to the expectations in supporting Bumrah throughout the game as India moved to the second Test, trailing by 0-1.

Moreover, Krishan might continue to be a part of the pace battery in the second Test, scheduled to start on Wednesday, July 2, in Birmingham. However, the Indian team might not have the services of Jasprit Bumrah, who is likely to be rested to manage his workload.
