Jasprit Bumran vs Sam Konstas faceoff was one of the talking points on Day 1 of the ongoing New Year Test at the SCG in Sydney. Speaking on the same incident, Rohit Sharma had his say, lashing out at the Australian young opener.
Speaking on Star Sports, Rohit Sharma went on to bash Sam Konstas for not concentrating on his game and instead riling up Indian players and termed it ‘non-sense’.
"Humare ladke jab tak shaant hain tab tak shaant hain. Agar aap ungli kar rahe ho, tab thodi na koi shaant baithega. Cricket khelo, yeh faaltu ki cheezein, yeh bol bachchan karna shobha nhi deta hai. (Our boys are silent only till a particular time. If you are going to poke them, then they will retaliate. We all are here to play cricket. Please don't do such non-sense. These antics don't look nice.),” Rohit told Star Sports.
"Humare ladke classy hain. Hum zyada iss baat pe focus karte hain ki humara kaam kya hai. Humare liye uss time zaroori tha ki ek-do wickets lene taaki jab morning session shuru ho tab Australia pe pressure bana rahe. (Our boys are very classy. We only focus on the given task and nothing else. It was important for us to scalp one or two wickets at that moment, in order to keep the pressure on Australia.),” he added.
India is right on top in the deciding SCG Test
After electing to bat first, India got bundled out for 185 runs in the first innings. Interestingly, Australia couldn’t live up to the expectations as they failed to take a lead in the first innings, getting bowled out for 181 runs.
For the unversed, it was Sam Konstas, who riled up Jasprit Bumrah in the dying moments of the opening day. On the last ball of the day, Usman Khawaja lost his wicket and the whole Indian line-up fired up at Konstas, who silently walked off the field.
