One of Cricket’s greats Brian Lara has taken it upon himself to help out the current West Indies team and rescue them from what is dubbed the ‘lowest point’ in the history of West Indies Cricket. For the first time in history, the two-time champions failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023 after their thrashing at the hands of the Scottish. Several West Indies legends had earlier opened up on the condition of the current West Indies team.

However, they would look to shake off the bad luck and look afresh towards the next challenge that awaits them. The Indian Cricket Team will be visiting the West Indies for a multi-format tour that includes two Tests, three ODIs, and five T20Is. A few of the T20Is are also scheduled to be held in Florida, making it a tour of the West Indies and the USA.

Notably, this would also be the first chance for both teams to get off the mark in the World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. However, considering the poor run of form, the Windies has been in, they’ll need major improvements to face this Indian side and be a competitive opponent. Brian Lara joining the coaching setup is surely a positive.

‘This is probably one of the lowest points I've had with the team’ – Jason Holder

Earlier, star pacer Jason Holder had spoken at length about the improvements he’d like to see in the Cricketing setup of West Indies. "This is probably one of the lowest points I've had with the team. But, you know, there are still a lot of positives. I was really happy for Nicholas Pooran, the way he played through this entire competition. And, it's good to see some of the younger guys get an opportunity on the big stage.

“It's not a quick fix, it's something we need to spend time on. As I said, development (at the grassroots) is the most important thing, where we can just put things in place and develop our talent. Hopefully, in the next couple of years we can see the fruits of that crop,” said Holder.
