'Phir se jhelna padega kya' - Fans react as KL Rahul set to lead India in second Test against Bangladesh

In what it seems to be a major blow for the Indian team, skipper Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the second of the two-match Test series against Bangladesh. The 35-year-old also missed the first Test against the hosts due to an injury in his left thumb that he sustained during the ODI series on the same tour.

The absence of Rohit Sharma also transliterates the fact that stand-in skipper KL Rahul will lead the team in the last fixture of the red-ball series. Although the Indian fans being Indian fans took it as an opportunity to mock KL Rahul and also take a jibe at his poor run of form with the bat.

During the post-match presentation after the first Test match against Bangladesh, stand-in skipper KL Rahul also talked about the possibilities of Rohit Sharma’s availability for the Mirpur Test

“About Rohit, I think we will get to know them in the next day or two. I am not even aware of it. The focus was completely on the Test match,” said KL Rahul in the aftermath of a 188-run win against Bangladesh in the first Test.

Later on, the stand-in skipper also talked about the performance of the Indian team in the first Test including the brilliant bowling heroics of the wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

“It’s just a gut feeling I try to go with as a captain – try and read the situation. I felt there wasn’t much in it for finger spinners when I bowled Ashwin first, who also felt like there was not much help from the wicket. I thought Kuldeep would bring in a different variety and that’s why we played him on a pitch like this. He brings in the variety, which is something different and it paid off, with which we are very happy,” he added later.
