The stage was set at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur when Rajasthan Royals (RR) took on Chennai Super Kings on 27 April 2023. It was the 37th match of the ongoing IPL. However, in the reverse fixture, RR defeated CSK at Chepauk and hence, they were looking to double over them in front of the home crowd.

However, CSK came to the match after a win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). While RR came to this match after a defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). So, RR were also looking to get back in winning ways. Speaking of the match, Sanju Samson won the toss and opted to bat first. 

RR have now defeated CSK twice in IPL 2023

While batting first, RR posted 202 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the star of the show as he scored 77 runs off 43 balls, including eight fours and four sixes. Apart from him, Dhruv Jurel played another impactful cameo while batting in the middle order. He scored 34 runs off 15 balls, including three fours and two sixes. Devdutt Padikkal also gave a good finish to the innings with his 27* runs off 13 balls. For CSK, Tushar Deshpande continued to add more wickets to his tally as he grabbed two wickets. Along with him, Maheesh Theekshana and Ravindra Jadeja grabbed one wicket each.

Then, for the chase, CSK had a poor start and lost four wickets for 73 runs in 10.4 overs. Only Ruturaj Gaikwad managed to score 47 runs off 29 balls. Other batters like Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane failed in the trap of Ravichandran Ashwin and Adam Zampa. After that, Moeen Ali and Shivam Dube shared a 51-run partnership. Moeen Ali scored 23 runs off 12 balls. After that, other batters came up with some contributions but CSK reached 170 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. Shivam Dube scored 52 runs off 33 balls and RR defeated CSK for the second time in IPL 2023.
