'Pehle bechara team mein toh aa jaye' - Fans tear apart Gautam Gambhir for his absurd choice on future India captain

Gautam Gambhir, the former Indian cricketer, opened up on the future team India captain and eventually faced backlash for making an abrupt choice, that looked inevident. To add more, India sacked Virat Kohli as the captain of the other two formats after he stepped from the T20I format without any obvious reasons.

The southpaw, who predicted team India’s captain for the future, made a bizarre choice and eventually ended up facing trolls on social media. Backing Prithvi Shaw, the young Indian opener for his aggression and intent, Gambhir said that he would be the first-choice captain for the Men in Blue in the coming days. 

However, it did not go well with the Indian fans who claimed that the youngster’s attitude has to be corrected if at all he needs to think of leading the Indian team in the future. While many opined that it would be impossible for the batter to make a cut to the Indian squad, a few went a bit ahead and claimed that he should not be considered the captain at all.

The former cricketer stressed that it was the duty of the selectors to let the players walk in the right path, after roping them in into the national squad. Saying that Shaw can be an aggressive captain, Gambhir claimed that he would be a perfect fit to lead India.

“The reason I've picked Prithvi Shaw, I know a lot of people talk about his off-field activities, but that is what the job of the coach and the selectors are. The selectors' job isn't just to pick the 15, but also to get people walk the right path,” Gambhir was quoted as saying. 

“Prithvi Shaw is one I feel can be a very aggressive captain, a very successful captain because you see that aggression in the way a person plays the sport,” said the former team India opener further. As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to Gambhir’s statement:
