PBKS skipper KL Rahul nearing three staggering records

The second leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) got off to a brilliant start with Chennai Super Kings(CSK) outclassing Mumbai Indians(MI) in a cracking contest. The second game saw Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) humiliating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 9 wickets. The third game post resumption will be played between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). Both teams were highly inconsistent in the first leg and will be keen to put on a better show in UAE.

Punjab Kings rely a lot on their skipper KL Rahul who is in the form of his life. After a brilliant tour of England, Rahul will be looking to carry on his form in the IPL. Meanwhile, Rahul is nearing three staggering records which could be broken against RR.

The Punjab skipper so far has scored 2978 runs in 88 matches at a strike rate of 136 and a brilliant average of 45.42. If he can manage 22 more runs, he will join the elite list of players who’ve scored 3000 runs in IPL. So far only 17 players have scored 3000 or more runs, with Indian skipper Virat Kohli leading the charts with 6081 runs, and when Rahul scores his 22nd run, he will become the 18th player to achieve the landmark.

Also, KL Rahul is just 4 sixes short of hitting a century of sixes for Kings XI Punjab. Rahul so far has scored a total of 120 sixes, out of which 96 has come while playing for Punjab Kings.

Meanwhile, Rahul is just 6 catches shy of taking 50 IPL catches. Rahul started donning the keeping gloves since his days with RCB and has done remarkably well. He even keeps for India in the absence of Rishabh Pant. Rahul so far has 44 catches and 5 stumpings to his name in IPL and needs just 6 catches to become the 17th player to take 50 or more IPL catches. Currently, Suresh Raina has taken most 106 catches in 201 games. However, Rahul may have to wait a bit longer to achieve this feat as taking six catches in a T20 game is difficult, but it's not impossible.
