PBKS Playing XI, IPL 2025: Best probable playing XI of Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings entered the IPL 2025 mega auction with the maximum purse compared to the other nine teams. They retained only two players and set out to rebuild the team for the umpteenth time in IPL history.

They shelled out Rs 26.75 crore for Shreyas Iyer who will most likely be their captain and also got back the services of Arshdeep Singh for Rs 18 crore. Overall, they managed to form a decent team yet again. Here’s PBKS’ best probable playing XI for IPL 2025:

Prabhsimran Singh will open the innings yet again for PBKS and look to provide quickfire starts to them. Marcus Stoinis might open with him as he likes to attack especially in the powerplay overs. There is no other specialist opener available for them in the squad who would make it to their best XI.

Shreyas Iyer, Glenn Maxwell, and Nehal Wadhera will most likely form the middle order for the Punjab-based franchise. Iyer has the ability to turn the game on its head while life has come full circle for Maxwell who is playing for PBKS yet again after a few years. The Aussie player has a chance to redeem himself in the cash-rich league after not living up to the expectations over the years. Wadhera is a talented batter and in the middle overs, he can up the ante whenever needed.

Shashank Singh is an able finisher having impressed in IPL 2024 while Marco Jansen, apart from taking the new ball in hand, will bat at number seven to do the finishing duties for Punjab. 

The other new ball bowler for the Kings will be Arshdeep Singh who has emerged as India’s top bowler over the years. Lockie Ferguson is the other fast bowler in their line-up while Harpreet Brar and Yuzvendra Chaha form the potent spin attack.

Apart from these bowlers, Stoinis and Maxwell can also roll their arms if needed as part-time options.
