“Happy to see Shreyas recovering well”- PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta shares her joy

PBKS Co-owner Preity Zinta shared her relief, saying she was "happy to see Shreyas recovering well," after the captain suffered a severe lacerated spleen injury. The quote came as Iyer made his first major public appearance since the injury, joining Zinta and teammates for a birthday celebration.

Indian batting sensation and ODI vice captain Shreyas Iyer is presently sidelined while he heals from a spleen injury. Iyer was hurt late in Sydney during the third ODI of the series against Australia.

Before being cleared to return to India by plane, he underwent an emergency medical treatment and was monitored in Sydney. According to sources, Shreyas Iyer saw physicians in Mumbai and was told to take it easy and do very little activity. 

It appears that Iyer will be sidelined for two to three months. He will probably miss the home series against South Africa and New Zealand as well as the 2026 T20 World Cup.

The 30-year-old was seen at an event alongside Punjab Kings owner Preity Zinta and teammate Shashank Singh. Preity Zinta on her X (Formerly known as Twitter) wished Shashank happy birthday and said happy to see Shreyas Iyer recovering well.

“Sometimes the most unplanned and Impromptu evenings are the best. Happy Birthday Shashank once again. So happy to see you and so happy to see Shreyas recovering well and coming out ( for once 🤩) Thank you Rohini for always being awesome ❤️ Loved bumping into Dino as always,” Preity Zinta wrote.

The selection committee has been informed about Iyer’s status and as per medical reports needs nearly more than a month to be match fit.

“He will take more time to be fully match fit and the board and selection committee doesn’t want to rush after his injury. He is doubtful for the South Africa ODI series,” a source in the Indian board confirmed to Indian Express.
