The Indian Cricket Board has announced the squad for the upcoming ACC Men's Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2023 on Tuesday, July 4. Many talented players have had opportunities to join the squad for the forthcoming tournament, but the supporters find it difficult to accept the presence of one individual in particular. Riyan Parag, a famed player from the Indian Premier League (IPL), was added to the squad.

Due to the fact that Parag was frequently seen struggling for runs in front of the opposition's bowlers during the recently concluded IPL 2023, cricket fans are not happy with his selection to the national squad and are questioning it. Parag's bat was undoubtedly silent throughout the IPL 2023, however, he shined in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Parag's brilliant performance in domestic cricket

In nine games, he scored 556 runs in total for his team. Because of his great all-around performance, he has been selected for the Indian fleet for the renowned competition. In terms of domestic cricket, Parag has so far participated in 88 T20 games, 38 List A games, and 25 First Class games.

In 44 first-class innings, he scored 1420 runs at an average of 32.27, in 36 List-A innings, he scored 1308 runs at an average of 38.47, and in 76 T20 innings, he scored 1533 runs at an average of 24.72. As for his bowling statistics, he has taken 49 wickets in 35 first-class innings for an average of 36.73, 36 in 33 List-A innings for an average of 33.50, and 30 in 51 T20 innings for an average of 31.16. However, this marks a golden opportunity for Parag to prove himself on this great platform and receive the maiden call to appear in an international match.
