Usman Shinwari, a Pakistani pacer, has called time on his international cricket career. His decision came on September 9, 2025. Shinwari last played for Pakistan six years ago, and the continued snub from the Men in Green team led to his decision.
Usman Shinwari made his T20I debut in December 2013 against Sri Lanka in Dubai, giving up nine runs in his lone over without taking a wicket. Prior to making his ODI debut in October 2017 in Sharjah, he had participated in four Twenty20 Internationals.
The sole Test match took place in Rawalpindi in December 2019 against Sri Lanka once more. This was also the last time he played for Pakistan in international cricket.
When 19-year-old Shinwari starred in the defeat of Misbah-ul-Haq's Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited in the departmental T20 Cup final in 2013, he immediately attracted the attention of the national selectors. Shinwari came back with 5 for 9 in 3.1 overs by seaming and swinging the ball.
He was quickly promoted to the T20I team as a result. However, Shinwari was at his best in ODIs, with two five-wicket hauls, including his second appearance in October 2017 against Sri Lanka in Sharjah, where he returned 5 for 34, with his five wickets coming in 21 deliveries.
His other five-wicket haul was in September 2019 at Karachi during his penultimate ODI match against Sri Lanka.
Usman Shinwari was also part of the Pakistan squad for the 2018 Asia Cup. A back issue that flared up frequently hindered his time playing international cricket. His most recent appearance came in the Pakistani National T20 Cup, when he played for the Quetta Region but was unable to claim any wickets in four matches.
