Sahibzada Farhan, the opener for Pakistan, has spoken out about his controversial gun celebration against India during Sunday, September 21's Super 4s match in the Asia Cup 2025. In the tenth over of the game, Farhan smashed a six off Axar Patel to reach fifty and chose to celebrate in a special way. Holding his bat like a rifle, he celebrated reaching a half-century. Fans were taken aback by the celebration, and many took to social media to voice their dissatisfaction.

In Sunday's Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 match versus India, he was instrumental in helping his team score a respectable 171. After a calm 58 from 45 deliveries to steady the innings, the 29-year-old was dismissed by Indian all-rounder Shivam Dube.

The 29-year-old stated during the press conference on Monday, the eve of Pakistan's second Super 4 match against Sri Lanka, that the idea simply struck him and that he doesn't care (mujhe parwah nahi)about what people think. The opener emphasised that he wants his team to keep playing aggressive cricket, similar to how they did against India in the opening ten overs.

“If you look at my six-hitting, you’ll see a lot more of that in the future,” Farhan said. “As for the celebration, it just came to me right then. Normally, I don’t celebrate much after a fifty, but this time I felt like doing something different. I don’t know how people interpret it, and frankly, I don’t care. What matters is playing aggressive cricket—not just against India, but against every team. That’s the approach we should always take.”

This gesture has been taken as a tight slap on the face of people who were advising India not to politicise the matter and keep sports as it is. Pakistan keeps on making everything about politics, especially when things don’t go their way, and this gesture has not been anything new from their end.
