The ODI World Cup 2023 is all set to begin in October in India and Pakistan are scheduled to begin their campaign on 6 October. They will play their first two matches in Hyderabad on 6 and 12 October. On 15 October, they are set to face Team India in Ahmedabad. But, as per recent reports, the match could get shifted on 14 October due to the ‘Navratri’ festival.
The reports also suggested that their first game will be against the Netherlands on 6 October while the second game against Sri Lanka might take place on 10 October. But, another report has come out also as per Cricbuzz. It said that Pakistan Prime Minister’s appointed committee are all set to decide on the Men in Green’s participation in the upcoming World Cup.
Pakistan will play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan before Asia Cup 2023
Shahbaz Sharif appointed the Bilawal Bhutto-headed committee and on 3 August, they could decide on the same matter. The committee, headed by Pakistan's Foreign Minister is leading the team and they are most likely to ask the Apex Council of Cricket and the Indian Cricket Board to permit a security delegation to visit the venues, where the Pakistan team will play. Speaking about Babar Azam and his men, they are set to play a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, starting on 22 August.
After that, they are scheduled to play in the Asia Cup also. So, these upcoming matches could be the perfect way for them to get prepared for the upcoming mega event. The World Cup is set to run until 19 November and the host, India will begin their campaign on 8 October against Australia in Chennai. Pakistan will play all of their matches across five venues. While India are going to be the most travelling team during the event as they have to play in nine of the 10 venues. Recently, the Men in Green were busy playing a two-match Test series in Sri Lanka and they clean swept the series 2-0 with ease.
