In a shocking turn of events, Pakistan’s talented batter Ayesha Naseem announced a premature retirement from the game on Thursday, July 20. Wasim Akram once dubbed her a ‘serious talent’. The 18-year-old has informed the Pakistan Cricket Board of her decision. According to reports flooding the media, Ayesha made her decision owing to her desire to spend her life according to the ideals of Islam. "I'm leaving cricket and want to live my life according to Islam," she told PCB.

Ayesha made her debut for the Green Army in 2020 in a T20 World Cup match against Thailand. She played four ODIs and 30 T20Is for Pakistan and her only noteworthy innings happened to be the 24-run cameo against the mighty Australians in 20 deliveries. She hit four maximums and one boundary in the said knock.

Ayesha Naseem has more than 400 international runs in 34 appearances

While she made her debut just three years ago, her run tally accounts for over 400 international runs in 34 appearances for Pakistan. She scored 33 runs in four ODIs, whereas in T20Is, she smashed 369 runs in 30 appearances. Her final time in the national outfit was against Australia in 2023, she record a three-ball duck on her final outing, bringing curtains to a career full of potential with an insignificant ending.
