The Asia Cup 2023 is yet to be confirmed as India are confident about not going to Pakistan to play in the tournament. Before 2022 20-20 World Cup, Jay Shah confirmed that the Men in Blue will not visit Pakistan due to security concerns. Since then, after several meetings, reports came out that Pakistan proposed a hybrid model to India.

They asked the Men in Blue to play all of their matches in a neutral country while the rest of the tournament will happen in Pakistan as per schedule. But, as per recent reports, India are not ready to accept that model, and the Cricket Board of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have backed the Indian Cricket Board over the decision. Now, reports have come that the tournament is going to happen in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka won the last edition of the Asia Cup

Recent reports also came out that the tournament might get cancelled and India might host a five-nation tournament at home during that time span. However, the current PCB Chairman, Najam Sethi called for a rational approach to solve the whole matter. Recently, on the occasion of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) meeting, Sethi said that India’s approach will directly impact the chances of Pakistan visiting India for the upcoming 2023 ODI World Cup.

He said: “In case of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan to compete in the Asia Cup, chances are there that the Pakistan government would not allow the Men in Green to cross the borders for their World Cup participation. In that case, cricket will be the ultimate sufferer. There should be a middle way to solve problems that surely threaten the smooth hosting of grand events. In case of India’s refusal to travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup, the government will not allow us to travel to India to figure in the World Cup matches.” Now, with the recent reports, fans have shared their views on social media.
