Pakistan Cricket Board invites application for ‘Power Hitting’ coach

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have started to look out for new coaches for the National High-Performance Center (NHPC). Among several posts, it has also posted an advertisement of Power Hitting Coach. This is a new category that the board has been looking to fill. The PCB has given a deadline of January 17, 2022 for the applications.

According to Geo News, the PCB is also looking for a batting coach, fielding coach, bowling coach, and high-performance coach. Mohammad Yousuf is in charge as the batting coach. The role of fielding and bowling coaches are vacant after Atiquz Zaman and Mohammad Zahid gave resignations from their posts. It remains to be seen if Yousuf re-applies for the batting coach.

The applicants must also possess a minimum experience of five years in the coaching industry. Meanwhile, the High-Performance Coach will look to provide integrated and holistic coaching guidance to players across all levels. Their role will be to help players be mentally strong and focused during the matches.

The person will also be responsible for identifying talents and defining objectives for each player, which would help in the development of their overall game. The shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel of experts. It remains to be seen if foreign candidates apply for various roles.

Earlier PCB chairman Ramiz Raja vowed that he will look to hire the best coaches for Pakistan. Raja also said he is looking for a foreign coach for the role of head coach, which is vacant after Misbah-ul-Haq’s resignation.
