The Asia Cup 2025 is just around the corner, scheduled to start on September 9 in the UAE. But before that, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the UAE will face each other in a T20I tri-series starting on August 29. All matches of the series will be played in Sharjah, with the final set for September 7.
Just before the Asia Cup, this series will give the teams a valuable opportunity for preparation. The UAE will look to play an exciting brand of cricket, while for Afghanistan, all eyes will be on their captain Rashid Khan and how well he can lead the side. Afghanistan have named a squad mixed with youth and experience, making them one of the teams to watch out for not only in this series but also in the Asia Cup.
For Pakistan, the most shocking decision came in the announced squad with both senior batters, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, not included. The players have been advised to work on their game, especially on improving their strike rate in the shortest format, as revealed by head coach Mike Hesson.
Without them, it will be interesting to see how well the Men in Green perform in this tri-series and whether they can build momentum heading into the Asia Cup under Salman Ali Agha’s captaincy.
