With each day passing, fans’ worry for Virat Kohli’s form is skyrocketing as the 20-20 world cup 2022 is just 88 days away. The batter failed to fire even on the recent tour of England. Kohli only managed to score 76 runs across six innings he played in England at a terrible average of 12.66.

The former India captain had asked for rest from the Indian cricket board and made himself unavailable for selection for the upcoming tours of West Indies and Zimbabwe. As per the reports, the former Indian captain has gone for a vacation to Paris with his wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika. The batter will join the team back for the ‘Asia Cup’ scheduled to begin in the last week of August.

Now as per some new reports, the Indian selectors might call back Kohli for the Zimbabwe tour. The selectors want the 33-year-old to regain some form for the upcoming Asia Cup and the all-important 20-20 world cup, set to begin in October. India are scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe starting 18th August, with Shikhar Dhawan set to lead the young side.

“Hopefully, the break allows him to rejuvenate mentally and get his form back. But without any competitive cricket, it will be difficult and that is why we want him to play against Zimbabwe. It’s his preferred format and will help him regain his form before the Asia Cup. We will take a final decision close to the selection,” a member of the selection committee told InsideSport.

It seems like even the Indian cricket board are desperate to see their main batter amongst the runs as they’ve recalled him back to the team against a weaker opposition like Zimbabwe. Kohli has failed to touch the three-figure mark since December 2019 as fans are eagerly waiting for his 71st international hundred.

Indian fans are, however, distraught seeing their favourite player like this and are feeling sorry for his current condition in international cricket.
