Now that you are in heaven dad, I know you will continue to protect me’- Rishabh Pant pays an emotional tribute to his father

Rishabh Pant, who is India's one of the best batsmen in modern-day cricket, paid an emotional tribute to his father via an Instagram post on Monday. In his post, he wrote heart-touching lines to remember his father, who died in 2017. For the unversed, Rishabh Pant’s father, Rajendra Pant passed away in 2017 due to a cardiac arrest.

In his post, Pant expressed his gratitude for having a supporting father, who was also his biggest strength. He ended the post by expressing how much he loves and misses him while hoping the duo meets again.

“He loved me for who I was and accepted me for who I was striving to become,"  said Pant in a note posted on his Instagram account. “Dads are strong for a reason. Their strength gives us a sense of protection. Now that you are in heaven dad, I know you will continue to protect me. Thanks for being my dad. I will always love and miss you until we meet again." Rishabh Pant wrote on his Instagram post.

Rishabh Pant’s father passed away at the age of 53 at his home in Roorkie in 2017. Pant, who was in Delhi at that time, went to his hometown to perform his last rites. He later came back to join Delhi's camp and scored an outstanding half-century against Bangalore.

The keeper-batter is now the captain of the Delhi-based franchise and is currently leading the team in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. Delhi have made a topsy-turvy start so far in the competition, having won and lost one game apiece. They began the campaign with a four-wicket win over Mumbai, followed by a 14-run defeat at the hands of Gujarat. Rishabh Pant and Co. are slated to play their next match against Lucknow on Thursday at DY Patil Sports Academy.
