Nitish Kumar Reddy reveals Pat Cummins’ bowling advice that helped him at Lord’s

Team India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy, who hogged the spotlight with his two-wicket first over on the first Day of the ongoing Lord’s Test, has revealed that he received a piece of advice from his Sunrisers Hyderabad teammate and captain Pat Cummins during the IPL 2025 season.

Notably, Nitish, who came on to bowl in the 14th over on Day 1, scalped the wickets of the opening batters Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley in quick succession to put England on the back foot in the first session.

“After the Australia tour, I felt like I have to improve my bowling. I just asked Pat what’s the difference between Australia and England since this is my first tour. He said that it’s not going to be like a different change but you watch about the weather conditions and just play your game,” Reddy said at the post-day press conference.

Furthermore, Reddy asserted that he wanted to bowl consistent lines and lengths as he got to move the ball both ways on the Lord’s surface. Moreover, he added that he would be honored if he gets onto the Lord’s honors board with his performance.

“Since I got some bit of swing both ways and I just want to be consistent over all areas. I have been doing a lot of hard work. I have to believe in myself. I would be so happy if I got named on the board," he added.

Subsequently, Reddy also stated that he constantly receives feedback from his fellow pacemen like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj to improve his bowling capabilities, adding that it’s all about keeping the plan simple.

"They always speak about being consistent. It isn’t just about bowling those good balls. We are playing against top-class batsmen as well. It’s not like if you bowl an in-swinger or an out-swinger, you are getting a wicket. So we just keep simple plans,” he stated.
