New Zealand hasn’t played a lot of ODI cricket of late but one would feel that they’re well prepared for the Bangladesh challenge. They are coming back from a stunning T20I series victory over Australia and will start the series as massive favourites. New Zealand will be without the services of Kane Williamson, who’s been rested for the series, and Ross Taylor, who will miss the first ODI due to an injury. This gives New Zealand an opportunity to test their bench strength. Devon Conway, Will Young and Daryl Mitchell, who’ve been in scintillating form in the New Zealand domestic circuit, are expected to make their debut in the 1st ODI.

Bangladesh comes into this series on the back of a 3-0 win over West Indies but against New Zealand in New Zealand, they’re expected to be in for a hard time. They have a poor record in the country and have lost all their 13 matches. The Kiwis, on the other hand, have been on a rampage and have not lost a game at home since their loss to India in 2019. Post that, they’ve played 6 matches (3 against Sri Lanka and 3 against India) and won all of them.

Probable XI New Zealand: Martin Guptill, Henry Nicholls, Devon Conway, Tom Latham (c & wk), Will Young, James Neesham, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Kyle Jamieson.

Probable XI Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal (c), Liton Das, Najmul Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain/Mohammad Mithun, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah, Soumya Sarkar, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Hasan Mahmud/Taskin Ahmed.
