“You’re more composed now” - Nehal Wadhera reveals Virat Kohli’s message during IPL 2025

Punjab Kings' middle-order batter Nehal Wadhera has revealed the former Royal Challengers Bengaluru skipper Virat Kohli’s message during the recently concluded IPL 2025 season in an exclusive interview to CricketNext.

Notably, RCB defeated PBKS by six runs in the IPL 2025 grand finale to bag their first-ever IPL title win in 18 years. Wadhera disclosed that he had a discussion with Kohli during his team’s first match of the season against RCB at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Talking about Kohli’s message, Wadhera revealed that he is playing more composed innings now, and he knows where and when to hit now. He further stated that this encouragement meant the world for him.

“That was our first match against RCB this season. Virat bhaiya was with Shreyas Iyer near our dressing room. He called me over and greeted me in Punjabi. After the game, I asked him if he noticed any improvement in my batting. Last to last season, he’d given me some advice, and I’d worked on it,” he told CricketNext.

“Yes, you’re more composed now. You know where and when to hit." For someone like me - just three IPL seasons in—it meant the world to get that encouragement from a legend like him,” he added.

It’s important to note that Wadhera accumulated 369 runs from 16 innings in the IPL 2025 season at a strike rate of 145.85 with two half-centuries. Notably, he was earlier part of the Mumbai Indians set-up before being roped in by the Punjab Kings at a whopping price of INR 4.2 Crore.

Importantly, Wadhera commenced his IPL journey in 2023 when MI bought him at the base price of INR 20 Lakh in the mini auction. He went on to smash 241 runs in 10 innings in IPL 2023. Later, he scored 109 runs in six matches, playing important knocks for MI.
