According to a new report, Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team's all-format captain, has been summoned to a meeting along with head coach Rahul Dravid before Team India's departure for the Bangladesh tour. According to Insidesport, the Indian Cricket Board has asked Rohit, Dravid, and Virat Kohli to meet to discuss the future of T20 cricket.

As per the report, Rohit may be asked to step down as captain of the T20I team. A new specialist T20I coach is also on the cards, and a possible replacement for Rahul Dravid will be discussed.

"There will be a meeting. I can’t tell you exactly when. We are supposed to meet Rohit and Rahul before they leave for Bangladesh. There are a few things to discuss. There is no review as such. We need to plan for the next World Cup. Rohit and Rahul both know what changes we need. As for split captaincy and coach, once we meet with the coach and captain besides selectors, we will take a call," a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

As soon as the news spread, Indian cricket fans who were disappointed with the outcome of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 took to social media to applaud the decision and congratulate the Indian cricket board for finally making the right decision.

"Der aaye durust aaye," said a fan. Another fan called it the "need of the hour". "Rohit should have retired from T20Is by himself, but Indian players don't do that..." wrote a third.

Several fans were upset with some of Rohit's decisions during the 20-20 World Cup in Australia, such as not playing Yuzvendra Chahal in a single match despite leg-spinners doing well in the tournament. Rohit may remain as ODI captain until the next World Cup, which will be held in India next year, but the management will likely make a decision on his future based on his fitness and performance.

Here's how Twitter reacted to the reports
