Indian Cricket Team started their Asia Cup 2022 campaign with a win on Sunday. Rohit Sharma and Co. emerged victorious by 5 wickets against Pakistan in what turned out to be a nail-biting encounter. For the Men in Blue, players namely Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja, and Virat Kohli made notable contributions either with the bat or ball.
However, the one who stood out on the big day was Hardik Pandya. The Gujarat skipper exhibited outstanding all-round performance and helped India win the game. Hardik Pandya impressed one and all with his bowling exploits in the first innings. He bowled well in the power play as well as in the middle overs.
He was the one who took the crucial wicket of Iftikhar Ahmed to break the important third-wicket partnership in the 13th over. In the very next over, he accounted for the wicket of M Rizwan and, two balls later, sent Khushdil Shah back to the hut as well. Thanks to that spell, India managed to restrict Pakistan to a below-par total of 147 runs in the first innings. Pandya returned with outstanding bowling figures of 3 for 25 in 4 overs.
Later in the second innings, Hardik Pandya, once again, took the world notice of his finishing skills. Coming in at the 10th over of the second innings when the team had last the top-three batters, Pandya’s calmness at the crease gave India some confidence.
He stitched a crucial 52-run partnership for the fifth wicket to help India take closer to the target. Needing 8 runs off the last over, Ravindra Jadeja, unfortunately, got out on the very first ball. Hardik Pandya, however, on the other hand, looked as calm as a cucumber.
The third ball he faced went straight to the fielder, which left the equation down to 6 needed off 3 balls. At that stage, instead of panicking, Hardik Pandya made a gesture towards Karthik, asking him to relax a bit and that he will see the team across the line easily.

On the very next ball, he hammered the bowler to a six over long-on to help India win the game by 5 wickets. After the win, the video of his gesture towards Dinesh Karthik in the final over went viral. A lot of fans praised Pandya for his self-belief. Here’s a look at some of the reactions:
