India will be chasing the enormous 444-run total on the fifth day of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023 final at the Oval in London on Sunday, and all eyes will be on the star Indian batter and former India captain Virat Kohli. The 34-year-old batter, who was ineffective in the first inning, corrected his error and played well in the second inning. He is currently unbeaten on the score of 44 runs which came off just 60 deliveries.

Meanwhile, Kohli has made history during the 4th day of the WTC final as he became only the second player in the history of the game to score more than 5000 with an average of more than 50 against a single team which is Australia. Kohli took only 93 games to achieve this feat in all formats of the game. He has also scored 24 fifty-pluses and 16 centuries versus the Aussies. The first player is none other than the former legendary Australian batter Don Bradman.

I think we have the runs on the board: Alex Carey

Coming back to the WTC final, India's pursuit got off to a strong start to the chase thanks to a quick-fire 41-run stand from openers Rohit Sharma (43) and Shubman Gill (18). However, neither batter was able to capitalise on the start they got, as Cheteshwar Pujara also went out for 27.

However, later, India were helped by an unbroken 71-run fourth-wicket stand between Kohli (44*) and Ajinkya Rahane (20*). On Day 5, they still need 280 runs to win with seven wickets in hand. Meanwhile, Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey believes that they have enough runs on the scoreboard and will look to win the match on the 5th day.

“I think we have the runs on the board, always look for more wickets, but they played well (on Rahane and Kohli). We'll have another chance tomorrow. Looked good to me (on the Green catch), we were happy and the right decision was made. It's not great to see them scoring at 6 rpo, but we pegged them back, quick wickets do help and we'll look for more tomorrow.”
