Former Indian cricketer and commentator Navjot Singh Sidhu has opened up on the India vs Pakistan clash in the Super Four game in the Asia Cup 2025 campaign on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai.
Speaking on his Instagram handle, the former Indian cricketer has asserted that the Punjabi batters Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill should be a part of all three formats, adding that the former should be groomed to play across formats.
Furthermore, Sidhu also reckoned that if Abhishek is groomed perfectly well, he could be another Virender Sehwag for Team India across three formats. Moreover, he also heaped praise on the Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav for bringing in Shivam Dube into the bowling attack to change the game upside down.
“I want to see this Punjabi pair in all formats. Abhishek Sharma should be groomed to play every format, because if you play him across formats, another Virender Sehwag will be born. I’m dead sure of it. Everyone always knew Shubman Gill was born to win hearts. But Abhishek, when it comes to hitting sixes, I’ve never seen anyone better than him,” Sidhu said on his Instagram handle.
“Bringing in Shivam Dube, full credit for that goes to our captain Suryakumar Yadav and also to Gautam Gambhir. This Suryakumar and Gambhir pairing is doing an amazing job,” he added.

In the chase, India sealed the game in 18.5 overs with six wickets in hand. Opening batters Abhishek Sharma (74) and Shubman Gill (47) were impressive in the chase, while Tilak Varma smacked an unbeaten 30-run knock to seal the deal for the Men In Blue.
