The Lahore Qalandars have signed Mustafizur Rahman for the PSL 2026, which is a major development.

Despite receiving a lucrative agreement for INR 9.20 crores from Kolkata Knight Riders, the well-known fast bowler from Bangladesh was recently left out of the IPL. He will, however, play during the IPL timeframe because the Lahore Qalandars have signed him for the PSL 2026, which will take place at the same time.

A staggering sum was paid by KKR to get Mustafizur Rahman, making him one of the priciest selections in the IPL 2026 auction. However, the BCCI cancelled the fast bowler's IPL contract for the 2026 season due to deteriorating political relations between the two nations and religious fanaticism in Bangladesh.

Mustafizur Rahman signs with Lahore Qalandars for PSL 2026

As one of the influential foreign players, Mustafizur's IPL exit made it possible for PSL teams to sign him. The Bangladeshi pacer was signed directly by the Lahore Qalandars, who seized the chance with both hands.

Lahore Qalandars took to their official X handle, confirming Mustafizur's PSL entry with a post.

"Our Bangladeshi brother, @Mustafiz90, picked in 2016 and 2018, is now our direct signing and finally back with the family. Once a Qalandar, always a Qalandar,” LQ posted on X.

Mustafizur will play for the Lahore Qalandars in the PSL for the third time. He was a member of the team for the competition's 2016 and 2018 seasons. It's interesting to note that the Bangladeshi fast bowler has participated in more IPL matches than PSL ones.

Mustafizur has only played five games in the Pakistani league, taking four wickets, despite having taken 65 IPL wickets in 60 games. He can bowl accurately and tightly, though, as seen by his remarkable economy rate of 6.43.

Mustafizur Rahman has played in the IPL for the five-time champion Mumbai Indians and CSK in addition to SRH, Rajasthan Royals, and Delhi Capitals. Through the PKR 6.44 crore direct signing, the Qalandars gave the player a huge morale boost at a time when he needed assistance.

For the PSL 2026 season, Lahore Qalandars has kept on veteran Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi. Their other retainers in the diamond, gold, and silver categories are Mohammad Naeem, Sikandar Raza, and Abdullah Shafique.

In a daring move, the Shaheen Afridi-led team, which has won the PSL three times (in 2022, 2023, and 2025), has put veteran bowler Haris Rauf up for auction. The most recent information indicates that the PSL 2026 season would probably take place within the March–April window, which means it will conflict with the IPL 2026.
