Defending champions Chennai have made a horrible start to their Indian T20 league 2022 campaign. For the first time in the history of the competition, Chennai have lost both their first two matches of the tournament. Under the leadership of a new captain in Ravindra Jadeja, Chennai began their campaign with a 6-wicket defeat over Kolkata. Shreyas Iyer and Co. put in a stellar bowling performance and restricted Chennai to just 131 runs in the first innings. They later chased it down in 18.3 overs.
The Yellow Army put in an improved show with the bat in the next game and notched a huge 210-run total against Lucknow. However, despite that, Chennai lost the game by 6 wickets. The defending champions would be really disappointed with their performances and oughta make a strong comeback as soon as possible.
Amidst all the tension, one big positive for Chennai has been MS Dhoni’s return to form. He struck a half-century in the very first game and followed it with a vital 6-ball 16-run cameo in the next game. At the same time, newly appointed captain, Ravindra Jadeja hasn’t impressed a lot with his leadership skills in the first two matches. He looked lackluster in his decision-making and didn’t impress a lot so far.
In a big development, it has now been learned that Ravindra Jadeja has been relieved of the captaincy duties and MS Dhoni will lead the franchise in the remainder of the tournament. The decision has been taken, following Chennai’s dismal start this season. MS Dhoni, who has made a great start with the bat, will once again lead the team. It will be interesting to see how the franchise performs in the rest of the tournament under the leadership of a new captain.
Chennai are currently sitting at number 8th position on the points table. They are yet to open their account in the tournament.

Happy April Fool’s Day folks!!!
