Preeti Jaggi, 38, and her daughter Angel, 15, who live in the Indira Nagar neighbourhood in the Ghazipur police station area of Lucknow, were travelling in a Scorpio when a billboard struck it, according to Gosaiganj assistant commissioner of police (ASP) Amit Kumawat.

When the accident occurred, they were travelling to a mall with their driver Sartaj, 28, said to SHO (Sushant Golf City) Atul Kumar Srivastava. He stated that the two were killed when the stadium's billboard in front of gate number two crashed into their vehicle. Sartaj has been hospitalised after suffering an injury. The SHO stated that more legal action is being taken.

A person, possibly Sartaj, can be seen reportedly crying for aid while buried under the rubble of a downed billboard in a video that recently appeared on social media. The footage shows that a storm caused the enormous board to collapse.

Initial accounts state that there were police officers on the site and that everyone was brought right away to the hospital. With the use of a crane, efforts were undertaken to remove the downed billboard while a Scorpio SUV was still hidden beneath the wreckage.

The hoarding most likely had something to do with recent IPL games played at Ekana Cricket Stadium. When it held its first international game in 2018, this stadium rose to attention. Talking of the home team, Lucknow Super Giants. They had a topsy-turvy IPL 2023, losing their captain KL Rahul fairly early in the league. LSG was then led by Krunal Pandya as they reached the Playoffs but crashed out in the Eliminator vs Mumbai Indians.
