The veteran England batter Alex Hales is enjoying the form of his life with the bat in the ongoing International League T20. He is appearing for Colin Munro-led Desert Vipers in the tournament. The 34-year-old smashed a swashbuckling knock of 110 runs off just 59 balls with seven boundaries and six sixes to his name against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in his third match of this tournament.
But unfortunately, what happened with the veteran Middlesex batter was not something he would’ve expected as he missed the second consecutive by just one run. England’s hero of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 missed got out on the score of 99 runs off his English teammate Chris Jordan on the last ball of the 17th over of the match.
The cricket fans were also disappointed for Hales as he could’ve entered the elite list of two consecutive centuries in the shortest format of the game. The fans took to Twitter and expressed their empathy with the senior right-hander.
Here’s how fans reacted:
Alex Hales caught on 99 must be the most frustrating thing in the world 😂

Heartbreak as Alex Hales departs at 99. He was only 1 run away from back-to-back centuries in ILT20.

Feeling sad for Alex Hales, he missed out his Hundred there by just 1 run, dismissed for 99 off 57, scored a terrific Hundred in last game, now gone for 99, well played. #ILT20 pic.twitter.com/u6t62MxjP5
