“I don’t need these…” - Mohammed Shami opens up on his marriage with Hasin Jahan

Star Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has opened up on his married life, which caught the spotlight of late on the internet. Notably, Shami got married to Hasin Jahan in 2014. However, a few years later, the couple got separated as Jahan accused Shami and his family of physical and mental torture.

Moreover, Jahan also publicly spoke against Shami on various news channels and on her social media handles, stating that Shami is a womanizer. Most recently, she also alleged that Shami prioritizes the children of his girlfriends, offering them expensive gifts while not caring for his own daughter, Arya.

Speaking exclusively on News24, Shami stated that he doesn’t want to dwell too much on his past, but added that his whole focus is on his game at the moment and wants to stay away from such controversies. 

"Leave that. I never regret the past. What's gone is gone. I don't want to blame anyone, including myself. I want to focus on my cricket. I don't need these controversies,” Shami said to News24.

It’s important to note that the former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan and spinner Yuzvendra Chahal are the other Indian cricketers to get divorced recently. When asked about the disputes Dhawan and Chahal had with their respective partners, Shami stated that he doesn’t want to be part of any more controversies. 

"That's your job to investigate. Why do you want to hang us to death? Look at the other side as well. I focus on cricket, not controversies."

While Shami is currently plying his trade for the East Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2025-26 campaign, his last competitive game came on May 2 for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the IPL 2025 season as he went wicketless, conceding 48 runs against the Gujarat Titans.
