Ace Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has congratulated his brother Mohammed Kaif for making his List A debut. Kaif received his maiden cap for Bengal in the Vijay Hazare trophy against Jammu and Kashmir on February 27th.
Shami posted an emotional message on his Instagram account which read “ Congratulation to my brother @Mdkaif1012 on your Vijay Hazare Trophy debut. We have waited for this moment. You are one step closer to the ultimate dream. Keep working hard.
Kaif, just like his brother is a fast bowler. His debut wasn’t a dream one but it must be a great experience for him. Riding on the performances of Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ritwik Roy Chowdhury and captain Anustup Majumdar, who stroked half centuries for their team, Bengal posted a solid 368 in their 50 overs. In reply, Jammu and Kashmir could only manage 286 runs in 45.3 overs with Kaif returning with figures of 0-60 in 8 overs. Arnab Nandi was the pick of the bowlers and picked up 4/46 in his 10 overs.
Mohammed Shami is not part of the India squad in the ongoing series against England. He picked up a wrist injury after getting hit by a ferocious bouncer by Pat Cummins in the Adelaide Test against Australia. There were some rumours that Shami might return to the Indian team for the final two tests, however, selectors didn’t pick him in the squad. He wasn’t selected in the T20 squad either. Shami has started training thus it's likely that he will be back in the Indian team for the ODI series against England.
