Despite performing exceptionally well in the limited-overs formats, Babar Azam's recent form in whites has not been up to the mark. Ever since Babar donned the captain's hat in the Test format, his form with the bat has seen a massive dip. Babar has an average of 20.66 in the 4 Tests he has led Pakistan. In the recent series against Zimbabwe, Babar could only manage two runs in two games. In fact, he hasn't scored a Test century since February 2020.

“Sometimes it happens in cricket. When you are playing cricket on a regular basis, you get some innings where you don’t score a lot of runs. This does not mean that there is a problem. It is a part of the game. Being in and out of form is just part of it. His drills and practices are phenomenal so he will definitely score in the next series,” Yousaf said.

Yousuf further went on to say that Babar has a very sound technique and he is continuously working hard to improve himself as a batsman.

“There is no doubt about it. Babar Azam is technically very sound and is working hard. The practice he does is really hard which pays off on the ground. He scores a lot of runs and holds phenomenal rankings in each format of the sport. When you work hard on the abilities that Allah has granted you then you improve day by day. It can be seen by his cricket that how much he is improving over time,” he said.
