Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif feels the Indian team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, lost the game against South Africa between the seventh and 15th over, pointing out that the skipper failed to utilize the ace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah properly.

Delving into the details, Bumrah went on to bowl two overs in the powerplay, scalping the wickets of Quinton de Kock and Ryan Rickelton. However, Dewald Brevis and David Miller stitched a 97-run stand for the fourth wicket to take the game away from India.

However, Kaif, while speaking on his YouTube channel, believed that Bumrah should’ve bowled only one over in the powerplay and another over in the middle overs to break the partnership between Brevis and Miller. Furthermore, Kaif also asserted that the former Indian captain Rohit Sharma always used Bumrah in the middle overs to break the crucial partnerships.

"We lost the match between the 7th and 15th over. You used Bumrah's two overs early and kept the remaining two for the death. But Rohit Sharma never used Bumrah like this," Kaif said on his YouTube channel.

"He bowled one over in the middle to break a partnership. There is a big gap between his spells. There is no bigger match-winner in this team than Bumrah. They need to bowl him for just one over in the powerplay, and then get him to bowl the 11th or 12th," he added.

Shifting our focus to the details of the game, South Africa batted first after winning the toss, posting a dominating total of 187/7 in 20 overs, thanks to Dewald Brevis (45), David Miller (63) and Tristan Stubbs (44*). Jasprit Bumrah scalped a three-wicket haul.

In the chase, India got bundled out for 111 runs in 18.5 overs, losing the game by 76 runs. South African bowlers Marco Jansen scalped four wickets while Keshav Maharaj picked up three wickets.
