Former Pakistan pacer Mohammar Amir has revealed that he will be eligible to play in the Indian Premier League starting next season (IPL 2026). He has asserted that if he gets an opportunity, he will definitely explore it.

Notably, Amir’s wife Narjis is a UK citizen, and the left-arm pacer is eagerly hoping to get an UK passport as soon as possible, which will allow him to take part in one of the top T20 leagues across the world.
“Next year tak meri opportunity ban rahi agar hua to kyu nahi (By next year, I will have the opportunity to play in the IPL and if given the chance then why not). I will play in the IPL,” Mohammad Amir said on a local show named “Haarna Mana Hai.”
The show’s host, Tabish Hashmi, was quick to ask Mohammad Amir an interesting question.
“What will be his reaction when he will be criticised in Pakistan for playing in the IPL?” The show host asked Amir.
Mohammad Amir, who announced his international retirement a few years back, was quick with his response, taking a few Pakistan cricketers' names who were associated with the richest T20 league in the world.
“Pakistani cricketers were banned in the IPL, but our former cricketers were doing commentary and were also coaches of the franchise,” Amir stated.
Importantly, Wasim Akram coached the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise earlier in the IPL, and Ramiz Raza was part of the commentary set-up in the cash rich league.
Furthermore, Amir revealed his respect for Virat Kohli and he disclosed that he cherishes the bat he received from the Indian batter as a gift ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup match against India in Kolkata in 2016.
“Virat is great and admires talent. RCB need a bowler like Amir to fix their bowling woes. They have a good batting unit but their problem has always been a problem. If Amir plays for RCB, they will win the title,” he concluded.
