Australia and Sri Lanka are locking horns in the 19th match of the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and asked the Lankan tigers to bat first in Perth. Batting first, Sri Lanka managed to post a total of 157 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Pathum Nissanka and Charith Asalanka played the crucial knocks of 40 and 38 runs to build the Sri Lankan innings amidst a middle-order collapse.
Although, apart from the action of the match, an incident from the Sri Lankan innings has now gone viral over social media, and once again the guy in the limelight is none other than the senior Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc who was the talk of the town a few days before when he mentioned India’s Deepti Sharma while giving a warning to England skipper Aaron Finch.
This time, he happened to do the same thing in Australia’s second match in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 against Sri Lanka. Starc was visible warning Sri Lankan batter, Dhananjaya de Silva, as the latter was leaving the crease before the ball was bowled.
According to the new rules of MCC, “a bowler can run out a batter at the non-striker’s end without giving any warning and it will be considered as a wicket.”
Here’re the scenes when Starc warned de Silva followed by a drama:
Some drama at the end of that over. Mitchell Starc twice warning or at least remonstrating with Dhananjaya de Silva for leaving the crease too early at the non-striker’s end & the chat continued at the end of the over #T20WorldCup#AusvSLpic.twitter.com/ObUNyM01S5

Notably, Starc came under fire a few days back when he warned the English skipper during the third and final of the three-match T20I series. He caught the eyeballs because he mentioned the name of Indian all-rounder “Deepti Sharma” while giving a warning to Buttler. For the unversed, Deepti happened to run Charlie Dean out at the non-striker’s endduring the third ODI between India women and England women. This move from Deepti turned out to be converted into a controversial debate.
Coming back to Starc, he said to Buttler during his warning, “I am not Deepti, but I might do it.”
