All fans were eagerly waiting for team India as they took on the Kiwis in Lucknow on 29 January 2023. It was the second game of the ongoing three-match T20I series. The Men in Blue lost the series opener by 21 runs. So, they were looking to win this clash to level the series. While New Zealand were looking to seal the series with one more match to go.

Speaking of the match, Mitchell Santner and Hardik Pandya came out for the toss. However, Santner won the toss and asked team India to bowl first. The Kiwis went with the same playing XI from the last match while India made one change. Pandya confirmed that Yuzvendra Chahal has made a comeback in place of Umran Malik.

India registered a six-wicket victory over New Zealand in the second T20I

For the Kiwis, openers failed to give a solid start. Indian spinners were on a roll as the visitors managed only 99 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Both the openers, Conway and Allen scored 11 runs each. Then, Mark Chapman and Michael Bracewell scored 14 runs each. Only Mitchell Santner showed some fight as he scored 19* runs off 23 balls, including one four. For India, Arshdeep Singh managed a good comeback in this match after his forgettable outing in the series opener. He took two wickets in two overs. Meanwhile, five other bowlers took one wicket each.

For India, Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill had another chance to provide a good start to the innings, But, they failed as Gill scored just 11 runs off nine balls. Ishan Kishan score 19 runs off 32 balls. Rahul Tripathy and Washington Sundar also failed to score big runs. But, Suryakumar Yadav played a gritty knock. He remained not out on 26* runs off 31 balls along with Hardik Pandya. The Indian skipper scored 15* runs off 20 balls. Finally, India chased down the target in 19.5 overs with six wickets in the bag.
