Following the grand opening ceremony, the CWG 2022 kicked off in England’s city of Birmingham. The Indian contingent is among the strongest contingents who are there in the CWG 2022 in Birmingham.
This time, the Indian women’s cricket team is also a part of the Indian contingent. Cricket is back in the Commonwealth Games for the first time after 24 years. Last time, it was played in men’s cricket in a 50-over format.
Indian women’s cricket team is there to play under the leadership of the 33-year-old senior all-rounder, Harmanpreet Kaur. Indian team played their first match of the campaign against Australia. Apart from this, the new jersey of the Indian women’s cricket team was also a point of attraction among the fans.
Later on, fans took to Twitter for criticizing the old kit of the team. They also went on to suggest that the men’s teams should also wear the same kind of kit.

Fans noticed the new jersey of the Indian team with a new logo just before the commencement of the match. Other than the logos and all, the color of the jersey was also something fans were impressed with.
The difference between this new kit and the old one is that this is in light blue color whereas the last one had a bit of dark blue color.

Speaking of the match between Australia and India, then Indian skipper Kaur decided to bat first after winning the toss at Edgbaston. Batting first, the skipper herself played a captaincy knock of 52 runs off just 34 balls with eight boundaries and a six to her name. Other than her, the young opener Shafali Verma played a vital knock of 48 runs off 33 balls with nine boundaries.

Chasing the target, the Australian team was looking in trouble when they lost their five wickets only on the score of 49 runs. Indian bowler Renuka Singh Thakur scalped four wickets in her excellent spell. She conceded only 18 runs in her quota of four overs. But Ashleigh Gardner’s knock helped Australia to cross the line and win the match in a thrilling nail-biter by just three wickets.
