‘Meerut ka sher’ – Fans react as Bhuvneshwar Kumar wins for Noida Super Kings against Kashi Rudras in Super Over in UP T20 League

On 6 September 2023, the 14th match of the ongoing UP T20 League took place between Kashi Rudras (KR) and Noida Super Kings (NSK) in Green Park, Kanpur. Speaking of the match, the NSK skipper, Nitish Rana won the toss and opted to bowl first. While batting first, KR got bundled out for 165 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs.

Prince Yadav was the highest scorer with 50 runs off 32 balls, including three fours and three sixes. For NSK, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took two wickets for 25 runs in four overs. Along with him, Kunal Tyagi, Saurabh Kumar, and Prashant Veer grabbed one wicket each. In reply, NSK lost their first two wickets for just 10 runs.

Then, Almas Shaukat scored 38 runs off 28 balls and skipper, Nitish scored 58 runs off 49 balls, including seven fours and one six. Prashant Veer remained not out on 38* runs off 17 balls, including one four and four sixes. In the last over, they needed 18 runs. On the first delivery, Saurabh Kumar got out and on the next delivery, Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored two runs. On the third delivery, he took a single. Then, Veer smashed a six and took two runs in the following two deliveries. 

So, on the last delivery, they needed seven runs and Veer hit a six. Thus, the match got tied and it went into super overs. In the super over, NSK set a 20-run target but it was Bhuvneshwar Kumar who showed his experience of playing international matches. He conceded only 11 runs, including only one six and thus, NSK won the game by eight runs. Seeing such composure from the experienced bowler, fans went crazy and thus, NSK registered their fourth win out of five games. Hence, they are sitting at the top of the table. He has taken five wickets so far in this tournament at an economy of 5.71.
