India locked horns with West Indies in the second ODI in Bridgetown. In the series opener, the Men in Blue registered a victory but fans were not happy as Sanju Samson got neglected once again in the playing XI. Ishan Kishan got the nod ahead of him as the wicketkeeper option. Ishan smashed a fifty while opening the innings.
Therefore, fans were wondering if Sanju gets a chance in the second match or not. However, it turned out that he came into the playing XI along with Axar Patel as they replaced Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. In the absence of Rohit, Hardik Pandya came out for the toss. However, he lost it and the Men in Blue were asked to bat.
Yannic Cariah took the wicket of Sanju Samson
After the toss, Pandya said: “We were looking to bat first. We want to see how much we can score on this pitch which is a bit up and down. Rohit and Virat have been playing constant cricket, so they are resting in this game. They can be fresh for the third ODI. I think when you get someone out for 115, it's a good effort from the bowlers. Our catching was impressive, but we can improve in certain areas. Instead of losing five wickets, we could have lost only two wickets and finished the last game. Sanju Samson and Axar Patel come in for Rohit and Virat.”
Both Ishan and Shubman Gill came out to bat. However, they put up a 90-run partnership for the first wicket as Gill got out on 34 runs. Then, Samson came out to bat at the number three position. But, his 19-ball struggle came to an end as Samson scored just nine runs. Yannic Cariah took his wicket on the first delivery of the 25th over. Seeing such a failure, fans were not happy as they slammed the batter brutally on social media.
