The second Ashes 2023 Test is all set to begin on 28 June at the Lord’s. After losing the series opener, England’s Bazball approach has faced some criticism from their fans and former cricketers. However, still, their Test team head coach, Brendon McCullum vowed to be more aggressive in the upcoming clash.

However, the veteran pacer, James Anderson also claimed to be more aggressive at the Lord’s. As quoted in India Today, Anderson said: "I think we'll go more positive, more aggressive, more entertaining. We want to try and make sure people go home happy as they did each day at Edgbaston.”

“I felt like I was fighting an uphill battle.” - James Anderson

"Just because we're 1-0 down I don't think we'll try anything different. I think we showed enough last week to show we can win the next four if we keep playing like that and iron a few things out. We'll go exactly the same," he further added. Meanwhile, the first Test did not go well for Anderson as he took just one wicket. He even was not happy with the flat track at Edgbaston as Anderson claimed it ‘was like kryptonite for’ him.

In his column in The Telegraph, Anderson wrote: "This is an Ashes series. It is a big deal. When you play on a flat pitch like the one at Edgbaston and take a wicket, a bit more emotion does come out because you have worked extra hard for it.”

"That pitch was like kryptonite for me. There was not much swing, no reverse swing, no seam movement, no bounce and no pace. I've tried over the years to hone my skills so I can bowl in any conditions but everything I tried made no difference. I felt like I was fighting an uphill battle. It's a long series and hopefully, I can contribute at some point, but if all the pitches are like that I'm done in the Ashes series," he added. Anderson also said that despite feeling rustiness, he gave everything he could in the series opener.
