‘Matlab isko drugs ke baare mein malum hai’ - Fans react as MS Dhoni says ‘Deepak Chahar is like a drug’

On 10 July 2023, MS Dhoni was in Chennai at the launch of 'Let's Get Married' (LGM), a Tamil film produced by his production company Dhoni Entertainment. During that event, he opened up about his CSK teammate, Deepak Chahar and compared him with a drug. Listening to that, fans shared their views on social media.

Dhoni said: "Deepak Chahar is like a drug, if he is not there, you would think, where is he - if he is around, you would think, why he is here - good part is that he is maturing but he takes time and that is the problem, in my lifetime, I won't see him matured (smiles)". Chahar is a part of CSK since IPL 2018.

Deepak Chahar grabbed 13 wickets in 10 matches in IPL 2023

But, he made headlines when CSK bought him for a mammoth amount of INR 14 Crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction. However, in the 2023 edition, he played an integral role as CSK won the title for the fifth time in their history. He picked up 13 wickets in 10 matches, at an economy of 8.74. However, recently in an episode of Breakfast with Champions, the CSK pacer opened up on how MS Dhoni works with his bowlers.

He said: "I was bowling in the death overs for the very first time. They never made me bowl in the death because it was not needed. There were bowlers like Shardul and Bravo to bowl the death overs. Now Bravo got injured. It was a critical match."

Chahar also said how Dhoni reacted after he bowled two beamers on a trot. “He (Dhoni came to me and said ‘you act smart as if you know everything. Why are you bowling in this manner?’ I was thinking that my career was over. Then I gave 5 runs off the next 5 balls and after the match he hugged me,” Deepak Chahar concluded.  However, Chahar missed the entire IPL 2022 due to an injury.
