New Zealand’s Martin Guptil leapfrogged Rohit Sharma in the list of most sixes in T20Is. Guptill, who stroked a magnificent 97 in the second T20I against Australia lead Rohit Sharma by 5 maximums. The Kiwi opener turned on the beast mode and smashed 6 fours and 8 sixes to maul the Australian bowlers. He was unlucky to miss out on a hundred by 3 wickets.
Martin Guptill and Rohit Sharma are followed by England skipper Eoin Morgan (113), New Zealand stalwart Colin Munro (107), and ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle (105). These three players are the only batsmen to have more than 100 sixes in T20Is. Australian T20 skipper, Aaron Finch and Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum are next in the list with 97 and 91 maximums.
Guptil’s blistering inning took New Zealand to a mammoth 219 against Australia. He was also named as the player of the match. Talking about his knock in the post-match interview, Guptill said that he’s very satisfied with his knock and would want to continue his good run in the upcoming games as well.
"Little bit cooked at the moment, but it's nice to score runs, importantly to get the win. They played well till the end. Things haven't gone my way but nice to spend time and get the win. You never know in T20 cricket. Teams are in even with a 200 chase. Hopefully, everyone who came enjoyed the game," he said. New Zealand leads Australia 2-0 in the 5 match series.
