Manchester United is one of the biggest football clubs in the world. As a matter of fact, it is one of the most popular sporting teams in the world. This English football club enjoys a massive fanbase.

In what comes as big news, Manchester United is seemingly set to have its own cricket team. Their co-chairman Avram Glazer recently conducted a meeting with the chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for the same. It is to be noted that he has purchased a team that will be a part of UAE’s T20 league.

Earlier, Glazer had made an unsuccessful bid for a franchise in the Indian T20 league. Thus, among the six teams in UAE’s T20 league, one shall belong to United. Sheikh Mansoor took to Twitter to reveal that he spoke to Glazer about ways to work together and raise Dubai’s profile as a sporting hub. The Tweet consisted of a picture of them as well.

“I met with Avram Glazer, Co-Chairman of Manchester United, today and discussed ways to work together to further raise Dubai’s profile as a global sporting hub. We also discussed the UAE T20 Cricket league’s launch in Jan 2023 featuring Manchester United cricket team & other teams,” read Sheikh Mansoor’s Tweet.

Glazer has expressed his happiness to be a part of this T20 league, which is scheduled to take place in January 2023. He also stated that this tournament promises to be a “world-class” event. Hence, it will be exciting to watch their team in action.

“I am very excited to be a part of UAE T20 at its formation. UAE T20 promises to be a world-class event that will be transformative to the growth of cricket in the Emirates,” Glazer had said, as quoted by News 18.

With a brand like United entering the mix, this T20 league is surely going to generate a lot of buzz. The tournament will also have teams from India as GMR Group (owners of Delhi team) and Reliance Industries Limited (owner of Mumbai) have also acquired a team in the tournament.
