A captain, apart from making cricketing decisions, has a big role in comforting and moralizing his players. MS Dhoni, India's one of the most successful captains, was always there for his players. He always backed his players, no matter what their form was. Yuzvendra Chahal recalled one such incident from 2018 during a conversation.

Speaking to Ravichandran Ashwin, the leggie revealed that it was MS Dhoni who lifted his spirits after he was hit for 64 runs in his 4 overs against South Africa in 2018.

On Ashwin's YouTube show 'DRS with ASH,' Chahal said, "Once, I got hit for 64 runs in a T20I against South Africa in 2018; (Heinrich) Klaasen had smashed me all over the park. Then Mahi (Dhoni) bhai had asked me to come around the wicket. I did exactly that but he hit me for a six over the biggest boundary at mid-wicket. Then Mahi bhai came to me and I said, 'Yes Mahi bhai, what should I do now?'. He said 'Nothing, I just came to you randomly."

"He said: 'I know it's not your day, you are trying but it isn't happening. Don't think too much, just finish your four overs and chill,'" Chahal added.

Dhoni and his aura was on the next level. He always knew how to get the best out of his players. The duo of Chahal and Kuldeep is the perfect example of the same. The spinners were at their peak while Dhoni was there with the team. Once he was gone, their form saw a steep decline.

Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal is currently preparing for the white-ball series against West Indies, but his selection in the playing XI is not yet confirmed. His performance has not been the best recently, and there are a few more players in contention for a slot in the team.
