India witnessed many allrounders in the past and only a few among them outclassed, to remain in the hearts of the fans forever. To add more, the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina are still missed in international cricket and the only cricketer to come closer to them at present would be Ravindra Jadeja.

Yuvraj, the left-handed batter, turned 41 on December 12, Monday and the internet poured in with wishes for the talented batter. One has to agree that the southpaw’s best innings for India would be the one against England in the 20-20 World Cup 2007  when he smashed six sixes against Stuart Broad in an over, eventually scoring the fastest fifty in the shortest format of the game.

Yuvraj Singh’s legacy in international cricket

The current generation looks at Yuvraj as an inspiration, for the batter has left a remarkable legacy in the international arena. Boasting over 1900 runs in the Test format, the southpaw was also one of the reliable batters in the longest format of the game. The Indian batter also flaunts over 1100 runs in the T20I format while having 8701 runs in the ODI format.

Over the course of his career, Yuvraj scored 17 international hundreds, out of which 3 came in Tests and 14 in the ODIs. Although one could argue that the batter failed to reach the three-figure landmark in the shortest format of the game, it is a known fact that Yuvraj was at his very best lower down the order and got minimal opportunities to reach the landmark.

The greatest moment in Yuvraj’s career came when he was adjourned the Player of the Tournament award for his stupendous run in the 2011 50-over World Cup hosted by India, which the team won after a wait of 28 years. It was at that time, the left-handed batter battled cancer, only to make a roaring comeback to international cricket the very next year.

The fans left no stone unturned to pour their heart out for the Men in Blue veteran on his birthday and Twitter, on the other hand, flooded with tributes and messages. As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions on the occasion of Yuvraj’s birthday:
