In what can be called a sensational comeback, Mumbai went on to created mayhem during the ongoing mega auction. After barely spending their auction purse, they got Jofra Archer and Tim David on Day 2 of the mega auction.
After wreaking havoc in Australia’s T20 league, there was a lot of hype pertaining to the Singaporean. Besides, he has been hitting sixes for fun in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL). Thus, the cricket pundits expected him to fetch big bucks in this mega auction.
Delhi, Punjab, Kolkata and Mumbai engaged in a major battle in order to acquire his services. At the end, the five-time champions purchased him for a whopping amount of INR 8.25 crore.
It is to be noted that David was with Bangalore in the previous edition in 2021, and went on to play a game as well. However, with the amount Mumbai have spent on him, he is most likely to get a consistent place in the XI. In the meanwhile, David is currently playing for Multan Sultans in Pakistan’s T20 league.
So far in this edition of the PSL, he has scored 221 runs in seven games at an average of 55.25. So far in his career spanning 14 T20 internationals, the batter has an average of 46.50 with a strike rate of 158.
With the ball, he has taken 5 wickets in total 11 innings with an economy rate of 9.32. Thus, several Twitter users spoke about this massive bid by Mumbai. The fans were delighted to have him in Mumbai set up. However, some also called him overpriced.
