For the first time in 133 years, the Olympics might see Cricket making a comeback. The last time cricket was played in the event was way back in 1895. At that time, not many teams apart from England and Australia played international cricket. Apart from cricket, baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse, and squash have also been reportedly recommended to be included.

Meanwhile, the LA28 (Los Angeles 2028) committee might make a decision on cricket and the other sports in recommendation between October 12 to October 14 (on this day, India and Pakistan will lock horns in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023). In a statement, LA28 said that the above-mentioned sports are played in backyards, schoolyards, etc.

"LA28's proposed sports ignite the imagination on the field of play and drive culture off it. They're relevant, innovative and community-based, played in backyards, schoolyards, community centers, stadiums and parks across the U.S. and the globe," Wasserman said. "They will bring new athletes to the Games, engage diverse fanbases and expand the Games' presence in digital spaces, further amplifying LA28's mission to deliver an unparalleled experience."
